stream in Hamsterley ForestJoined-Up Holidays is situated at Paradise Farm, Woodland which is on the edge of Hamsterley Forest and in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Woodland Village boasts panoramic views over a large geographical area - south towards the Stang forest in North Yorkshire and west towards the Cleveland Hills.

On the farm our visitors will be able to enjoy seeing some of the local wildlife which includes many species of bird such as pheasant, partridge, red grouse, swallows, tawny owls, lapwings, starlings, robins, blackbirds, thrush, sparrow hawks, kestrels and if we are very lucky barn owls, red kites and black grouse. We have seen both barn owls and sparrowhawks hunting on the land last summer. Although none of us have ever been fortunate enough to see a badger on the farm (yet), we do have more than our fair share of rabbits, foxes, bats and hedgehogs as well as many species of butterfly and bees in the summer.   waterfall in Hamsterley forest

As well as the facilities for watching widllife on the farm, nearby Hamsterley Forest has some excellent nature trails, including those suitable for wheelchairs and the less mobile. Access to the forest is approximately 1 mile from the holiday centre. If you are very patient it is possible to spot deer in the forest and an even wider range of birds and bats as well as both red and grey squirrels.

The rural location of Joined-Up Holidays makes it an excellent site for observing the night skies, the moon and the stars. Due to the low levels of light pollution in the area there are frequent opportunities for some spectacular star grazing. Our future plans include investment in at least one high powered telescope for the enjoyment and education of our visitors.
